Jays ace Roy Halladay threw his 4th straight complete game last night against a flu ridden Boston Red Sox team. Normally this first line might give you the impression the Jays beat up on the Bo-sox. Not last night. Roy Halladay lost his 3rd straight start, which puts his record at a deceiving 2-4 and the Jays overall record at an ugly 11-16. Which is good for last place in the AL East and second last in the AL behind only Texas. What an embarrassment. And that's only the tip of the ice burg.
So one must think that it's time to start asking some questions. Such as why does John Gibbons still have a job? Why does J.P. Ricciardi still have a job for that matter? J.P. was given millions by Ted Rogers to build a contender, and all he's built is an overpaid lackluster team. This supposed hitters team has scored 115 runs so far. Only the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins have scored less in the American League. As if this weren't bad enough we're paying over 7 million this season for Frank Thomas to play in Oakland. And don't kid yourself into believing that Thomas was let go because of his slow start. It's due to the fact we'd have to pay him over 10 million next year because of a stupid clause put into a stupid contract by a stupid general manager! And that's without even mentioning the fact that we released Reed Johnson so we could keep an over the hill Shannon Stewart!
In a city where John Ferguson Jr., Sam Mitchell, Paul Maurice are held to such a high standard and something like a small losing streak or one or two bad seasons have their jobs in jeopardy why is it these two nit wits running our beloved baseball team have been able avoid the same scrutiny? After 3 seasons of missing the playoffs the leafs fired JFJ. After making the playoffs but failing to advance past the first round questions are swirling around Sam Mitchell's future in Toronto and yet J.P. is in his 6th season with 0 results and still there's no pressure to get rid of him! Gibbons has publicly fought two players and shows no intelligence with how to properly use his bullpen. He constantly leaves arms in for too long, misuses Matt Stairs, Zaun and Barajas just to name a few things and he too has escaped public scrutiny!
It's time to clean house. Get rid of J.P. and Gibby today. This team is so inept right now you'd swear they were run by MLSE.
